Lockheed Martin is currently in a transition period to Agile. While the first step in that process was training, understanding what Agile means and how it differs from the traditional waterfall approach, there are far more steps to achieving it. These steps involve: understanding team roles, understanding team dynamics, managing the team and stakeholder expectations, Agile tools, timing of project transition, and engaging in all Agile concepts (all-in). As we walked down the road, we have both achieved success and experienced failures. Our successes have provided us a stronger awareness of the benefits of Agile, while our roadblocks have lined our toolbelt with many lessons learns for staying on the road to a full Agile transition.
